An East Haddam woman is undergoing rabies treatments after she was twice attacked by a coyote, a spokesman for the state’s environmental agency said Wednesday.
She tried to fight the animal off with a pitchfork Oct. 22, Will Healey said. The coyote bit her boot before being kicked by her donkey and running off.
The coyote again came after her the same day when she was driving her car, the woman told wildlife experts. She tried to run it over but it slipped away, said Healey, from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Neighbors, who also had noticed the coyote’s aggressive behavior, later found the animal and shot it, he said.
