Drug addiction recovery center breaks ground for new facility in New Britain

The Root addiction recovery center that offers methadone treatment in New Britain is building a behavioral management center for mental health and addiction clients.

The Manchester-based agency broke ground Thursday for a new building in New Britain’s East Side where it will serve patients from the city and surrounding towns.

The Root Center for Advanced Recovery currently operates in a small location on Whiting Street about a block from the Hospital of Central Connecticut.

The new facility will provide treatment for a variety of mental health and substance abuse disorders. Mayor Erin Stewart said she is particularly hopeful for strong results from its opioid program.
