The fiery crash last month that killed Devon Dalio, the son of well-known billionaire philanthropists Ray and Barbara Dalio, has been ruled an accident by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The OCME determined Devon Dalio, 42, died of smoke inhalation and “thermal injuries” the afternoon of Dec. 17 when the car he was driving crashed into a Verizon store in a Greenwich shopping center and caught fire.
A police investigation into the incident was still underway Friday but officials released no new details about their work.
Devon Dalio’s death shocked his friends and family, with his father penning an essay about the family’s grief on his influential LinkedIn page late last month.
