The Huskies’ growth as a program can be broken down into two, four-year eras. The first spanned from 2014-18 when UConn was establishing itself in Hockey East and just trying to survive most nights. It culminated with a fifth-place finish in 2018 — which only happened thanks to a seven-game win streak late in the year.
The second era began in 2018-19, when the now-senior class came in as freshmen. The Huskies struggled that year with a 12-20-2 record but closed the season with wins in five of their last eight games, including an upset of No. 2 UMass on senior night.
