A New York man who was on his way home from a birthday party in Connecticut Sunday was fatally shot on a West Haven highway ramp, state police said.
Jawara Stennett, 39, was unresponsive after being shot on his right side shortly after 10 p.m., they said. He had been sitting in the passenger seat of a car on the Exit 43 ramp to I-95 south. No one else in the car was injured.
The shooter was reportedly in a white SUV, state police said, but troopers don’t have a license plate number.
“Stennett was visiting his father for a birthday celebration and was traveling back to his residence in New York,” they said in a press release.
