Connecticut’s overall coronavirus vaccination rates continue to rank among the highest in the nation, but the progress is slowing as the state moves into a new — and in some ways, more challenging — phase of the vaccination rollout.
At the beginning of April, as the state opened up vaccinations to all residents aged 16 and older, new vaccinations added up rapidly.
In the first week of April, the state reported that just over 170,000 people received their first dose. As time went on, and the most eager residents received their vaccinations, demand began to drop. In the week ending Thursday, the state reported that about 67,000 people received their first dose.
