Even though Sunday started off with chillier and cloudier than Saturday, state parks were still getting so busy that several were waving off new visitors by late morning.
The pattern of the past several weekends continued: Early arrivals got parking spaces. But because capacities are reduced to maintain distancing, many other would-be visitors were turned away.
Southford Falls State Park in Southbury was the first to close Sunday: By 10:06 a.m., officials announced on Twitter that it would accept no more people.
Before noon, C.P. Huntington Park in Newtown and Sleeping Giant in Hamden were also closed to new arrivals, and state officials expected that more parks would close as the afternoon went on.
