Hospitalizations in Connecticut have increased roughly 25% in the past week, as COVID-19 cases surge in the Northeast and the director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned Monday of “impending doom.’'
Connecticut reported 498 hospitalizations Monday, an increase of 42 individuals since Friday. Hospitalizations have risen steadily from 389 last Monday to 456 on Friday and nearly 500 Monday.
Hospitalizations are “creeping up,” Gov. Ned Lamont said during his regular press briefing, though he added that there remains “tons of capacity” in hospitals and there is “nothing to worry about there.”
“It’s a younger age group, they are getting infected, maybe they are a little more casual than they should be, but I think in terms of capacity in our hospitals, I still feel pretty confident,” he said.
