Daily coronavirus updates: Connecticut’s positivity rate, hospitalizations decline again one day ahead of state’s expansive reopening

Related Topics: Connecticut, COVID-19

On the final day before the state’s expansive reopening Wednesday, Connecticut showed continued improvement in both the positivity rate for COVID-19 and hospitalizations due to the virus.

Tuesday’s data reaffirms the low numbers seen in recent days and weeks, just hours before Gov. Ned Lamont formally allows bars to open indoors, eliminates all capacity and gathering restrictions and lifts the indoor mask mandate for fully vaccinated residents.

Experts say that Wednesday’s reopening may lead to some form of an increase in COVID-19 cases, but that a high vaccination rate will keep those cases from spreading more broadly.
