As Connecticut’s positive coronavirus test rate hit 4.1% on Tuesday, Gov. Ned Lamont promised a renewed effort to push municipalities to enforce pandemic rules imposed by his administration.
Lamont said he’s pushing local authorities to enforce the reopening restrictions for restaurants, which can open under certain guidelines, and bars, which aren’t allowed to open at all. He said the state was not ready yet to take further action, however.
“We had a statewide call … with at least those mayors and municipal officials from the red districts that are most at risk [and] let them know all the different sanctions we have, including closing down a bar that is egregiously violating our standards, including fines and we will see if that’s enough," he said.
