Connecticut’s positive coronavirus test rate on Wednesday dropped back below 3%, after spiking to a rate of 5% the previous day.
The state on Wednesday reported 373 newly identified coronavirus cases out of a total of 15,362 tests administered — yielding a positivity rate of 2.4%. Wednesday’s lower rate may mean that the previous day’s unusually high rate was a blip, although several more days of data are needed to solidify the trend.
Because of day-to-day fluctuations, the weekly average positivity rate is considered a more stable metric.
Although Tuesday’s rate was higher, it affected the weekly rate less significantly because it included a lower number of COVID tests.
