Daily coronavirus updates: Connecticut’s hospitalizations, daily positivity rate tick up; metrics overall remain close to flat

Connecticut on Tuesday reported an increase in coronavirus hospitalizations and an uptick in the daily positivity rate, although even with the fluctuations, both metrics stayed within the average range that the state has reported in recent weeks.

The state reported 738 newly identified coronavirus cases out of 21,338 tests administered, for a daily positivity rate of 3.5%. That daily rate is higher than in the last few days — the rate had remained below 3% since Thursday.

However, because Tuesday’s rate was still lower than the state reported early last week, the weekly average rate continued to drop.
