After nearly two weeks of promising numbers, Connecticut’s daily positive coronavirus test rate increased to 3.5% Tuesday.
The state on Tuesday reported 749 newly identified COVID-19 cases out of a total of 21,030 tests administered, for a one-day positivity rate of 3.56%. Although Tuesday’s rate is notably higher than the rates in recent days, it’s also only one day’s worth of data — meaning it does not yet indicate a trend of rising rates.
And, because the state reported a relatively low number of total tests on Tuesday, the day’s higher positivity rate did not have a substantial effect on the weekly average rate.
