Some Connecticut health care providers have begun to open up appointment slots and to prepare clinics for the expected green light to begin inoculating adolescents with the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday issued emergency authorization for use of the Pfizer vaccine in 12- to 15-year-olds, but there’s still another step before the shot can be rolled out to the new age group. An advisory group to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is scheduled to meet Wednesday to recommend use guidelines for the vaccine.
It is widely expected that the CDC will then give the go-ahead for providers to begin vaccinating adolescents as early as Thursday.
