New state numbers show that Connecticut’s young people continue to make up a disproportionate share of recent COVID-19 cases — and the trend appears to be worsening.
Of all the people in Connecticut diagnosed with coronavirus from July 19 to 25, the data shows, about 49% were under the age of 30. This is a dramatic increase from the early days of the pandemic; since March, only 18% of people diagnosed with coronavirus were under 30.
Even before Thursday’s data, public health officials were raising alarm bells based on data from two earlier weeks in July.
