Daily coronavirus updates: 12 new cases found at UConn; Connecticut’s positivity rate ticks up

Connecticut on Wednesday reported 180 new coronavirus cases, out of a total of 15,312 tests — giving the state a slightly higher than average positivity rate of 1.1%.

Over the past few months, the state’s positivity rate has mostly stayed below 1%. The state has now seen a total of 52,220 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, and has administered well over 1 million tests.

Connecticut also recorded zero new coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday, for the eighth day this month. The state has seen 4,463 coronavirus-related deaths since March. Hospitalizations dipped by two on Wednesday, for a total of 57 coronavirus patients currently hospitalized.
