COVID-19 vaccinations in Connecticut’s prisons will begin Monday for staff, elderly inmates

Connecticut’s correctional staff, as well as a small group of elderly inmates, will begin receiving COVID-19 vaccinations on Monday, interim Department of Correction Commissioner Angel Quiros announced Thursday morning.

“Starting Monday, at seven correctional facilities, our staff in group 1B will be receiving their vaccination,” Quiros said. “We’ve identified the ... individuals under my custody that are 75 and older ... and we will be vaccinating them starting on Monday.”

Quiros’ more detailed timeline came just one day after the union representing correction officers publicly pressured the Department of Correction to provide the vaccine to its workers.
