Officials closed the Superior Court in Meriden Tuesday after concerns an employee may have contracted COVID-19.

The state’s judicial branch said that officials learned Tuesday that the employee working in the courthouse is presumed to have the virus and is waiting for test results.

Officials also learned that a number of employees had contact with this worker Friday, Sept. 4, and may have been exposed. Judicial officials did describe the nature of the employee’s work at the courthouse.

The judicial branch opted to close the courthouse for the remainder of the day on Tuesday, continuing matters that were scheduled.
