Fully vaccinated Connecticut residents will be allowed to venture maskless into most public spaces starting Wednesday — but there are exceptions and caveats to the soon-to-be-lifted mandate, depending on both a person’s vaccination status and the individual rules of the space.
For instance, the state will still require masking for everyone, regardless of vaccination status, in risky spaces such as nursing homes and schools. Plus, individual businesses are still allowed to enforce their own masking rules on customers and visitors.
The variety of rules and regulations will lead to a complex patchwork of policies across Connecticut. The same space may have different rules for different people, and the same people may be required to wear masks in some spaces but not others.
