A wind chill advisory will be in effect at midnight to warn of bone-chilling cold on Friday and wind gusts that will make it feel like it’s 9 degrees below zero.
The advisory is in effect in the northern half of Connecticut, in Hartford, Litchfield, Tolland and Windham counties, the National Weather Service says. Wind gusts in Hartford will be as strong as 29 mph. The Litchfield County advisory will be in effect earlier, at 10 p.m. Thursday, and its wind gusts will be strong as 38 mph.
“The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes,” meteorologists said in the early-morning alert.
