As of 6 a.m., the low temperature had reached 8 degrees, said Alan Dunham, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. The pre-dawn wind chills at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks hit minus-10.
Friday’s high is only expected to reach 16, and the wind chills will be as low as 15 below. The wind advisory expires at noon.
While the high Saturday will reach the 20s, wind gusts of up to 20 mph will fuel subzero wind chills.
The temperature will rise to the 30s on Monday, and the focus will switch to precipitation. Snow is in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday, but Dunham said Friday morning that it was too early to say how much will fall.
