Individuals filing state income tax returns in Connecticut now have until May 17, Commissioner Mark D. Boughton said Thursday.
The announcement comes within 24 hours of the May 17 extension from the U.S. Department of Treasury for federal income tax filing and payments.
“Taxpayers do an excellent job of filing their Connecticut income tax returns accurately and on time,’ Boughton said. “To further assist and support them, Connecticut will align with the extended federal deadline.”
Since state taxes start with federal Adjusted Gross Income, it’s “often beneficial to complete one’s federal return first,” Boughton said.
