Connecticut has the fourth lowest smoking rate in the nation and scored relatively well in most measures of respiratory health, according to a new American Lung Association report.
The State of Lung Cancer report, however, did highlight some racial disparities in new cases and diagnoses in the state.
The report explores how lung cancer varies across the nation, including rates of incidence, risk factors, survival, screening and available treatment. Highlights from the report’s Connecticut section (https://bit.ly/3fcxiZ7) include:
_ Tobacco use is the leading risk factor for lung cancer. The smoking rate in Connecticut is 12.
