Neighbors complaining about loud, late night fireworks led Meriden police to a search a residential garage, where they seized an estimated $5,000 worth of illegal fireworks.
Patrol officers initially investigated a series of complaints from the Bunker Avenue neighborhood, and got a search warrant for the two-car garage at 171-173 Bunker Ave. Officers late Thursday night got into the garage, where they found stacks of boxes of fireworks.
City police called in the state police bomb squad to remove the fireworks, and worked into the early morning to inventory all of the material.
“Our patrol division has been receiving numerous complaints regarding illegal fireworks activity, and we are and will continue to work diligently to identify anyone who is in possession of or setting off illegal fireworks within the city,” Sgt.
