This year, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Connecticut will be marked not by snow, but by heavy rain and strong winds.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a storm settling in over the state Thursday evening through Friday morning. But instead of a white Christmas, this storm will bring unseasonably warm temperatures, potentially damaging winds and rain.
The winds could reach maximum gusts of 50 to 55 mph in the Hartford area, and similar speeds across most of the state. The Boston branch of the NWS warned that the winds could make holiday travel difficult.
The strong winds could also lead to downed trees and power outages, according to the NWS.
