A child struck by a vehicle Friday night in Cheshire has died from accident-related injuries, police announced Saturday. Cheshire police responded to Wiese Road by Richmond Glen Drive around 8:00 pm Friday, where officers, along with paramedics, administered first aid to the child at the scene. Police said the child was then transported to a local hospital, "where they succumbed to their injuries.”
Police said the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene after the accident and has cooperated with the investigation, conducted by the Cheshire Police Traffic Division and the Naugatuck Valley Crash Investigation Team. Officials are withholding names because the investigation is ongoing, and notifications to family members still need to be made.
