HARTFORD — A white Audi that struck and killed a cyclist on Wethersfield Avenue and then fled the scene last month was reported stolen the day after the crash, according to Hartford police.
Within an hour of the Aug. 13 hit-and-run, detectives say they found the vehicle unoccupied and with significant damage, parked about 3 miles away on a residential street in the Upper Albany neighborhood.
In the days after the crash, Lt. Paul Cicero said the Audi was not stolen, though at the time of the crash it had been weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed along with a dark-colored SUV that matched the description of a stolen vehicle.
