Warm weather, aggressive winds and a drop in humidity have sparked fires across the state, including an approximately 30-acre brush fire in Southbury Friday afternoon.
The Southbury fire, near River Road, required several fire departments alongside the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Forestry Division and Parks Division to fight the blaze. Firefighters are expected to continue working into the night, and possibly Saturday to try and contain the flames, DEEP said.
Within the last few days, various fires were reported, including two in Willington and Tolland on Thursday and a fire in Old Lyme and another one, around 12-acres, in Meriden Friday.
