Police said a dispute led to the shooting, which was reported about 10:20 p.m. at Pesci Park, 89 Center St. Responding officers found the juvenile lying on the ground, just outside the baseball field. He had multiple gunshot wounds.
Medics provided aid and he was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m., police said.
A preliminary investigation shows that the shooting followed a dispute in the park during which someone pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and fired numerous times, police said. The shooter is believed to have left the scene in a dark Lexus with North Carolina or Connecticut plates.
