Police said they were called to the home’s second-floor bedroom in the Hill neighborhood about 10:40 p.m. Medics treated the boy and rushed him to Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives seized a handgun and a safe from the home, Capt. Anthony Duff said. Police also alerted the state Department of Children and Families to the boy’s death.
