After a battery in a Lenovo tablet exploded, Bristol schools are asking parents of hundreds of early elementary grade pupils to shut off the school-distributed devices.
Educators are trying to find out what went wrong, and have contacted the manufacturer, Superintendent Catherine Carbone told parents by email Thursday night.
“This evening we alerted families of an incident regarding one of the Lenovo Tablet devices distributed to pre-k through grade 3 scholars,” Carbone wrote. "Late this afternoon, we were made aware of a situation in which a tablet battery ignited.
“Until we are certain that this is an isolated event, we are requesting families to cease using the tablet device.
