At least 2 from Connecticut arrested in storming of U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump extremists

At least two people from Connecticut have been arrested in connection with the violent takeover of the U.S. Capitol by insurgents who falsely believe the election was stolen from President Donald Trump.

Victoria Bergeson and Mauricio Mendez, both 40 and from Groton, were charged with curfew violation and unlawful entry, according to the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. An arrest log says the pair was arrested in the 100 block of First Street Northwest, not far from the Capitol building.

The department said a total of 69 people had been charged from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning on a variety of charges after an angry mob stormed the Capitol.
