A Hartford man gunned down a fleeing teenager soon after the two met to fight in a Windsor Locks park, an arrest warrant released Friday says.
Daniel Phillip Baez, 22, who faces charges that include murder, appeared in court Friday and was held in lieu of $1.25 million bail. Baez is due back in court on Aug. 11.
Police say Baez, a convicted felon who was on probation, shot and killed Elijah Ortega, 16, on the night of June 24 in Pesci Park. Sydney Witchard, who drove Baez to the park that night and had previously dated Ortega, is charged on a warrant with hindering prosecution because she helped Baez elude capture after the shooting, police said.
