A suspect who refused to drop a rifle and handgun in a confrontation with police was shot and injured Saturday night and is in critical condition at Hartford Hospital, Hartford police said.
Police said officers responded at about 9 p.m. to a 911 call about a man with a firearm in the area of 25 Gilman St. Officers said the suspect, who has not been identified, had an assault rifle with a scope and a handgun with an attached flashlight. He refused orders to drop the weapons, police said.
Margaret E. Kelley, state’s attorney for for the Ansonia-Milford Judicial District, is investigating with State Police as required by state law following a police-involved shooting.
