One gunshot was fired during an armed robbery Friday night of the Zales Jewelers at the Trumbull Mall, prompting a large police response and police chase into Bridgeport.
The suspect was located by police and was “about to be taken into custody” at about 8:30 p.m., according to Trumbull police.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. when one shot was fired during the robbery and one suspect took several necklaces, police said. No one was injured by the gunshot.
The mall was deemed safe and reopened, police said, though videos shared online from outside the mall showed cars streaming out the mall’s parking lots while police helped direct traffic.
