A man was robbed at gunpoint in Hartford this week when he tried to buy a cellphone he found on LetGo, a marketplace app, Hartford police said.

Through the app, the victim and “seller” arranged to meet up for the transaction on Monday afternoon in the area of Mahl Avenue and Main Street, but instead of handing over the phone, the “seller” brandished a firearm and demanded the man’s money, according to Lt. Paul Cicero.

The suspect made off with $450, but police tracked him down and detained him after a brief foot chase, Cicero said. The victim wasn’t injured.
