SUFFIELD – In the fall and the spring, they are rivals.
They meet on the soccer fields. They go head to head on the baseball diamond. They say a few brief hellos and joke around before their games and a few minutes later they are talking trash, trying to get any advantage they can.
Last season, friends Jake Pallotti of Suffield High and Jake King of Granby faced off in baseball. King was at the plate; Pallotti was catching. A few pitches into the at-bat, King drew an interference call on Pallotti. King had gotten the best of his friend, and Pallotti knew it.
