Connecticut residents aged 45 and older will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination beginning Friday, and all residents aged 16 and older will become eligible on April 5, thanks to a substantial increase in vaccines that will be shipped to the state, Gov. Ned Lamont’s office said Monday.
The new eligibility dates are a significant acceleration of the state’s rollout plan, which was previously slated to expand more slowly to residents aged 45 to 54, then to residents aged 35 to 44 and finally to all adult residents in the first week of May.
The new timeline is largely due to increased vaccine supply from the federal government — Connecticut officials said that by early April they expect to begin receiving 200,000 per week.
