Although such encounters are rare, Animal Control Officer Jillian Cappabianca warned residents to stay alert, particularly people with pets.
The incident and another recent coyote/human confrontation happened in the area of School Street and Joanne Drive in East Hartford. On Tuesday at about 7 p.m., the man was walking his pit bull dog when a coyote started chasing them, Cappabianca said.
Fortunately, the man was young and healthy and was able to get away, but Cappabianca said police are concerned for older and less able-bodied residents.
In the other recent incident in the same area, a coyote, maybe not the same one, approached a fenced yard where several dogs and their owner were present.
