Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania is reporting that Emeka Okafor is close to finalizing a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. The 2005 Rookie of the Year had been playing for the Philadelphia 76ers’ G-League affiliate in Delaware this season, where he was averaging 6.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in 19.9 minutes across 26 games.
Okafor was last seen in the association in 2013 for the Washington Wizards but needed to take time off due to back problems. He wasn’t medically cleared to play until May of 2017.
