A storm is on its way to Connecticut. Here’s a look at when it will arrive and how much snow to expect.

Some early-morning flurries Thursday offered a taste of a mellow, but long-lasting, snowstorm that will arrive in Connecticut later in the day.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from noon Thursday to 7 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service says, and “travel could be very difficult.”

Although very light snow fell before dawn in places, more “appreciable, steady snow” will likely start falling in southern Connecticut late Thursday morning, roughly between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., said Bryce Williams, a NWS meteorologist.
