No one was injured in the fire at 108-110 Evergreen Ave. The fire was reported at 5:07 a.m., knocked down by 5:20 a.m. and declared under control, so it wouldn’t spread, by 5:27, Capt. Mario Oquendo said. It didn’t spread beyond the third-floor kitchen where it started.
Employees of the city’s Licenses and Inspections Division decided that the three-story house can’t be lived in, he said. The fire department’s Special Services Unit is working with the American Red Cross to help the six adults and six children find temporary housing.
