39-year-old Connecticut man dies in Hartford car accident; three passengers injured

HARTFORD — Hartford police are investigating a car crash that killed a 39-year-old driver and injured three others early Sunday morning.

The driver, identified by police as Blanchard Baisden of Tolland Street in East Hartford, had been traveling on Fraser Place near Garden Street in Hartford’s Asylum Hill neighborhood when the accident occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m.

Baisden had been driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder when it hit into the back of a semi-tractor trailer that had been parked and unoccupied, police said.

A 36-year-old female passenger in the car suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and was driven to Hartford Hospital, police said.
