More than 20,000 homes and businesses in Connecticut were without power early Monday after a line of strong storms swept through the state with high winds and drenching rain.
Eversource, the state’s largest electric utility, reported 20,128 power outages as of 6 a.m. Monday, hours after the storms had subsided. The worst of those outages appeared to be focused in Fairfield and Litchfield counties.
“Strong wind gusts are bringing down tree limbs and branches, causing scattered outages across the state. Our crews are working to get the power back as quickly and safely as possible,” Eversource said on Twitter about 8:30 p.
