LOS ANGELES – The rash of injuries on UCLA’s defense has prompted Randall Goforth to return to a familiar role.
In high school at Long Beach Poly, Goforth lined up as a cornerback, the position most schools, including UCLA, recruited the three-star prospect to play.
That changed not long after he joined the Bruins for Coach Jim Mora’s first season in 2012. Cornerback Sheldon Price was injured, safety Andrew Abbott moved over to replace Price at corner and Goforth stepped in for Abbott. He has been at safety since.
This season, similar shuffling has occurred in the secondary due to injuries.
