SAN BERNARDINO – Kenny Young wanted to make one thing clear when he was asked about the challenge of stepping into the “shadow” left by Butkus Award winner Eric Kendricks.
“It’s not EK’s shadow,” Young said. “What EK’s done, I’m not going to be able to do. It’s going to be different. He already has his legacy here. What I’m going to do is totally different. He’s a great guy, a great linebacker, a great leader. But to say I’m the next EK, I’m not. I’m the first Kenny Young.”
With Kendricks off in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, Young assumes many of the same responsibilities entering this season.
