UCLA Coach Jim Mora was absent from a prospect camp held on campus earlier this week.
On Friday, the Times learned Mora’s absence was because he and his wife, Shannon, are separating.
Mora’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, released a statement on behalf of the Mora family.
“After much thought and careful consideration, Jim and Shannon Mora have decided to separate,” the statement read. “This was a very difficult decision and they appreciate the respect for their family’s privacy at this time.”
UCLA opens the season against Texas A&M on Sept. 3 in College Station, Texas.
