LOS ANGELES – UCLA dropped to .500 after consecutive losses to close the Maui Invitational last week. It gave up 59 first-half points and trailed by as much as 29 points in a beating by Kansas, then watched Wake Forest shoot 42 free-throws in another loss.
The Bruins returned to Pauley Pavilion on Sunday night, and got back on track with an easy, much-needed 77-45 win over Cal State Northridge in front of 6,193. They led throughout, improving to 4-3 overall in advance of Thursday’s home game against No. 1 Kentucky.
“We needed to get a win and play well, and we got a win playing well,” UCLA coach Steve Alford said.
