UCLA has reached an agreement to hire former Oregon coach Chip Kelly, the Bruins’ top choice to replace Jim Mora.
School officials are expected to formally announce the hiring Saturday morning and introduce Kelly during a news conference on campus early next week. The agreement was confirmed by sources with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity because the deal has not been made public. Terms of Kelly’s contract were not immediately known.
The deal represents the most tantalizing hire in the history of UCLA’s football program, given that Kelly guided Oregon to the national championship game after the 2010 season as well as three conference titles in his four years at the school.
