LOS ANGELES – As UCLA readies for its season finale on Saturday in the Foster Farms Bowl, it also confronts a troubling history.
The Bruins have lost six of their past 10 bowl games, and they were favored to win in four of those losses.
The litany of letdowns started in 2003 with a loss on a rain-soaked field in San Jose to Fresno State in the since-defunct Silicon Valley Classic and continued a year later with another stumble against Wyoming in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Then-coach Karl Dorrell called the effort against the Cowboys “lackluster” afterward, coming as the Bruins were double-digit favorites.
